Forcible Entry Training

By Captain Michael Furlong
October 25, 2024

This week members of the Jenkintown Volunteer Fire Department conducted forcible entry training. During some emergencies, our dedicated volunteers must be able to gain access to properties through locked or obstructed doors. These skills are invaluable, as speed and efficiency is vital for us to gain access and perform our requisite tasks during an emergency.

Members of the department take every precaution to not force entry and damage property during routine calls for service, when entry can be gained through another means. That often means that this vital skill is not practiced in real-life scenarios too often. Our training was conducted using a training prop, which specifically allows our members to train on this skill so that they may do so when an emergency arises, and when seconds matter.
